About
ScreenSoundLoft is organized around positions in a room rather than around products or problems. A wall, a seat, a ceiling, a shelf, an outlet: each one has three measurements that decide it, and each measurement rules something out.
The chain
Every page follows the same order. What stands in this position, which three measurements settle it, how to take them, what each one rules out, and only then what you might need. Products come last because they are a consequence of the numbers. Reversing that order is how rooms end up with a bracket that will not reach a stud and a cable that is a foot short.
Roughly half of what is suggested here costs nothing: move the seat, take the bar out of the cabinet, cover the window behind you, try the height with tape before drilling. Those come before any of the parts pages, on purpose.
Product handling
Nothing on this site has been tested, used, opened, or judged. Every characteristic attributed to a product is transcribed from its listing, and the phrase the listing states is used to keep that boundary visible.
Where a group of products shares a figure published in the same units, that figure becomes a line and the products are placed on it. Where a listing does not state the figure, the product is left off the line entirely rather than given an estimate. Two groups on this site have no line at all, because no such shared figure exists for them.
There are no scores, no stars, no rankings and no prices. Read Parts for the full description of how a card and a badge are built.
Out of scope
- Not a source of electrical, structural, or installation requirements. No code, regulation, or local requirement is stated or interpreted anywhere on this site.
- Not an account of personal experience with any product listed here.
- Not a substitute for the documentation that came with your own equipment, which is the only place figures for your equipment belong.
- Not a place to find out whether your wall, your ceiling, or your wiring can carry something. That is what a qualified installer or electrician is for, and every page that touches it says so.
